Horse Back Trail Rides

Johanna’s passion for reviving the Horse Traditions of Costa Rica gave birth to the idea of Equestrian Tours through the Coffee Plantations, Private Nature Reserves in the area, and the nearby mountain range that offers a 360 degree vistas of the whole central valley, and Arenal, Poas, Barva, Turrialba, and Irazu Volcanoes. The town organizes several Cabalgatas (Trail Rides) as do many towns throughout the country, and guests are often included in these traditional events. A great way to “Meet the People” of Costa Rica.

We will climb to an altitude of 9000 ft. You will see coffee plantations, flower and fern green houses & lagoons. One of the few accessible active volcanoes on the continent. Active fumaroles can be observed at the bottom of the crater. We will also stop by the oxcart factory in Sarchi and it’s souvenir shops.
 


The Tabacon Hot Springs day Resort and Arenal Volcano area

An incredible tour through the rain forest; by the magnificent trail of “Los Tucanes” all the way to the base of the Arenal Volcano while you are hiking you will be able to hear the rumbling and behold the power of nature!

Includes bilingual guide, beverages, transportation in a mini-bus with air conditioning and the entrance fee to the national park as well as the entrance to Tabacon Hot Springs are included. Dinner can be arranged at a specific time upon request at Tabacon's front desk.

Sarchi and Grecia "slice of life" loop

Sarchi town is world wide famous for its handcraft works. Everything in Sarchi is typically painted.  The oxcarts are bought for tourist every they and the stores ship them to the recipient upon request.  The tour to Sarchi can be done in the morning or in the afternoon. We will start with a wonderful drive through some of Costa Rica's largest coffee and sugar plantations.


Carara Rain Forest

Located in the rain forest, a perfect spot for exploring trails under the canopy of huge trees. Looking for scarlet macaws, armadillos, collared peccary, howler monkeys and sloths. All can be found in this park.
 


Los Angeles Cloud Forest

This 800-hectare reserve provides the same experience as Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve without the crowds or the quetzals. The reserve is part of the Villablanca finca, a cattle ranch owned by former president Rodrigo Carazón. It begins at 700 meters’ elevation and tops out at 1,800 meters (when the clouds clear you can see Volcán Arenal).


Ocean Fishing and Snorkel Expeditions

Our divemasters will take you to any one of almost 30 diverse dive sites in the area. You'll see lots of large schools of fish, underwater formations, giant manta rays, dolphins, turtles, & even an occasional whale shark!


Zoo Ave

The fantastic bird collection (the largest in Central America) includes dozens of toucans, cranes, curassows, and parrots, and a veritable Pantone chart of more than 100 other Costa Rican bird species. Zoo Ave is one of only two zoos in the world to display resplendent quetzals. Macaws fly free. You’ll also see crocodile, deer, turtles, ostrich, tapirs, peccaries, pumas, and all four species of indigenous monkeys in large enclosures. Noah would be proud: most creatures are in pairs or groups.


The Butterfly Farm

There are other wonderful botanical gardens in this area to visit as well like the Orchid Gardens in Palmares, or the Bromeliad Nursery in Cocaleca.  There’s also another wonderful Botanical Garden in Sarchi which is just 7km away.  All are worth a visit, and it can be done all on the same day.
